About Where Food Takes Us
We’re Darah and Garrett, the creators of Where Food Takes Us! Back in the summer of 2018 we didn’t know this travel blog was part of our future. Trying our best to survive in a foreign concrete jungle (Taipei, Taiwan), we scoured the web for what to do, what to see, and where to go. Making our own mistakes along the way, we thought we’d give this blogging thing a shot to help future travelers.
Fast forward to now, Where Food Takes Us has grown to include two other countries in Asia (and the coolest airport ever!), 17 countries in Europe and a handful of states in the USA, with many more to come!
We designed Where Food Takes Us to inform fellow travelers and digital nomads about destinations around the world. But more importantly, our goal is to inspire you to get out there and see it all! We encourage every traveler to take the road less-traveled, uncover unique experiences, and indulge in cultural delights because that’s how the best memories are made.
About Darah & Garrett
Our life has been a whirlwind of adventure ever since we eloped in a pink cadillac in Las Vegas (but not quite adventurous enough to be serenaded by Elvis). The travel bug was quick to bite! While road tripping the southwest U.S., we dreamt up the idea to move to Taiwan for a year and teach English.
Well, that didn’t happen.
Instead, we arrived in Taiwan and realized staying in one place for a year wasn’t going to cut it. That’s when we discovered the wonderful world of teaching English online. Before we knew it, we were sending 3 suitcases and a keyboard piano back home. Now that we were officially digital nomads, we lived (and worked!) out of a few backpacks for 18 months while traveling around Asia and Europe.
Did we really bring all that luggage to Taiwan? You bet! That was our first mistake and definitely not our last! We’ve learned from our mistakes and have shared all about it in this blog so you can learn from them too! We sincerely hope Where Food Takes Us can be used as a guide for your travels and inspires you to explore!
